Six Nations Fire Station #1 – New Building

17 VETERANS LANE, OHSWEKEN, ON

Date : April 9, 2015

Lanca Contracting Limited was the successful bidder to construct the much anticipated Fire Station 1 for the Six Nations of the Grand River located in Ohsweken. This fully sprinklered, post-disaster, 13,000 square foot pre-engineered building design has over 6,000 square feet of apparatus bay space to be home to a tanker truck, apparatus truck, support vehicles and future aerial truck.

The apparatus bay is equipped with a Plymovent  truck exhaust system and interior tanker hose connections.  Trench drains, granulated epoxy floor, athletic flooring in the onsite gym, and secured storage lock up located on the 1,600 square foot storage mezzanine, are also featured in the apparatus bay.

The balance of the 13,000 square foot fire station is occupied by operational offices, living quarters with a commercial grade kitchen equipped to host community events.  The commercial grade kitchen features a complete fire suppression system and grease interceptor.

Lanca’s scope of work was inclusive of all civil site works, with new fire hydrant, domestic water and fire service connections, concrete approach pads to the apparatus bay and a parking-lot construction.  Secured access system, complete fibre optic data cabling and security round out this first class facility.

Construction began in May 2015 and the project was completed in January 2016.

On April 7th, 2016 Six Nations celebrated the grand opening of the new hall, built by Lanca Contracting Limited.
