The Project Coordinator is responsible for directing, organizing and controlling project activities, under the direction of a Project Manager (PM).

Project Coordinator Job Duties:

  • Attend client meetings and assist with determination of project requirements.
  • Working with Project Manager (PM) in the drafting and issuance of project proposals, contracts, RFP’s, tenders, budgets, and schedules.
  • Gathers all project information: schedules, data requests, assignments, tasks, and project meetings.
  • Attend site meetings to record and then distribute minutes to all project team members and follow up.
  • Works with PM to understand and track the progress and quality of work being performed by trades and suppliers.
  • Works with PM to use project scheduling and control tools to monitor projects plans, work hours, budgets and expenditures.
  • Effectively and accurately communicate relevant project information to the PM.
  • Review field inspection reports from Consultants throughout the lifecycle of the project and report to PM.
  • Issue Contracts, Letters of Intent, Purchase Orders, etc. PM to review and issue final copy.
  • Assist the PM in the review of Contractor quotations to ensure that only fair and reasonable pricing is recommended for approval.
  • Track & manage contemplated change notices and change orders.
  • Prepare substantial completion certificates and ensure all required project close out documents are obtained.
  • Keep the PM and others informed about project status and issues that may impact client relations.
  • Maintain good communication with technicians and contractors to assure timely and efficient completion of jobs, proper communication of issues, and proper documentation of the entire process at each job site.
  • Process daily, weekly and monthly reporting to ensure all schedules run smoothly, all jobs are completed as prescribed, and all invoicing is processed in a timely fashion.
  • Maintain good communication with sub contractors to assure timely and efficient completion of jobs, proper communication of issues and proper documentation of the entire process at each project.
  • Plan, arrange and monitor all shipping arrangements through to fulfillment.

General Requirements:

  • 3-5 Years of experience in supporting Project Managers, with a General Contractor (Industrial, Institutional, Commercial, and Residential Construction).

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all on-site construction activities on a daily basis.
  • Manage multiple projects throughout the construction phase.
  • Conduct on site meetings with trades and project manager to ensure project plans & schedule are followed.
  • Conduct safety meetings on site and enforce safety policies, and all ministry guidelines in order to maintain a safe working environment for all workers on your job site.
  • Represent the company in job meetings with owners, consultants, subcontractors and Inspectors.
  • Communicate with Lanca Contracting Limited office and project manager regarding jobsite requirements to maintain productivity and quality
  • Oversee all field operations and total construction effort to insure project is constructed in a safe manner and in accordance with design, budget and schedule.

  • Experienced at leading projects from foundation work through tenant improvements.
  • Motivate all team players for project to co-ordinate deliveries, subcontractors and employees in order to maximize project production.

  • Strong leadership/managerial qualities required.
  • Experience in concrete, framing and finish carpentry.
  • Experience in pre-engineered steel building construction, conventional steel construction, wood framed construction.
  • Knowledgeable in building codes, building bylaws, specifications etc.

Other Requirements:

  • Must  possess a valid driver’s license
  • Current First Aid/CPR, WHMIS, Fall arrest/Scissor Lift, Propane, Basics of Supervision

  • Minimum Grade 12 high school diploma
  • Gold Seal Certified – an asset but not required

Qualification and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of commercial construction and re-modeling trades, practices, procedures, techniques, tools and equipment, materials, specifications, quality control, cost control, and safety.
  • The ability to work with power and hand tools is an asset.

  • Able to read blueprints is mandatory.

Skilled General Labourer Job Duties:

  • Cleaning and preparing of job sites
  • Loading and delivering materials and using a variety of power tools and machines, such as blowtorches, laser levels, lifts, power drills, grinders, saws, pressure washers, Backhoe and Bobcat loader.
  • Assisting Site Super to set up and take down ladders, scaffolding, hoarding and other temporary structures.
  • Misc duties such as clean up on job site, transport shop tools and equipment, install hm/wood doors & frames, door hardware, wall framing, blocking, concrete forming.
  • Experience with painting, framing, drywall an asset.
